In this book, she offers you the same direct, no-BS coaching she’s given to tens of thousands to help you acquire the skills to build this sucker and teach your team to do the same. And, equally important, she’ll work on your mindset so you stop over complicating it all and stop letting the negative voices in your head win. You’re going to learn:* The Posture to confidently connect with anyone about your business and your products.* The Possibilities for a lucrative, efficient, and enormously rewarding turn-key business.* The Power that’s already within you to build the life you really want…if you dare.

But it will teach you how to build confidence in yourself, reconnect with your “why,” eradicate jealousy, and ultimately learn the power of connection. Because at the end of the day, that’s what life and business are all about.

This wraps up this work-from-home-mom gift guide. I hope you found some new items to add to your list, or maybe even to gift to your favorite female entrepreneur.

I would love to know which one of these items is your favorite, or which one is on your wishlist.

Confessions From a Recovering Stay at Home Mom

recovering stay at home mom

I am a Recovering Stay-at-Home-Mom

It’s hard to believe that 5 years ago, I was a “stay-at-home-mom” who lived her life at home with the kids, recovering from post-partum depression for the second time, and slowly losing my identity, confidence, and purpose. (Read more about my story here)

I do not want to seem ungrateful for being blessed with this opportunity. I know how blessed and privileged I was to have the opportunity to stay home with Stella, my youngest after she was born. We tried for two years to have another baby and suffered through 3 back to back miscarriages along the way. I savored every moment with my rainbow baby. But anyone who has left a competitive workforce before to take care of the kids and home knows how challenging this can be. There is another side to this “job” that many will never see or understand unless you’ve done it.

You know, the no-makeup days, workout clothes or leggings for days on end, days without showers, TV binges and emotional eating…just me? Maybe so…

I’m not here to say being a SAHM is easier or harder than working outside of the home, I’m just here to shed light on the struggles that do come with the job that people may not understand.

Loneliness, depression, feeling unworthy, feeling useless, and that I could not manage anything well. When I would go to social events, and others asked me what I did for a living, I would feel embarrassed to say that I was“a stay at home mom.” People would smile, say, “oh that’s so nice…” then the conversation would go nowhere because we lived different worlds and had nothing in common. I began to forget how to speak to adults. “Toddler” was my main language.

I love my role as a mom…most days. Let’s face it, I’m a crappy housewife. I love to cook but I hate to clean. Let’s not even get started with the laundry situation… I’m not good at it…or rather, I just hate it. Does hating those things make me a bad MOM? Or a bad wife?

Finding Myself

So…cue my introduction to direct sales.

Yes, I know that this industry gets so much backlash because people don’t understand how to market and work their business. So many people are doing it all wrong!!! Heck, even I had my stigmas but do you know what I learned in the 5 years that I’ve been in this industry?

Giving a woman the power to find her voice again with this type of platform can be so incredibly empowering for her. This industry allowed me to be creative, which I NEED. This industry gave me the ability to have my OWN accomplishments to be celebrated. It gave me my confidence back and a purpose outside of a rotating laundry and carpool schedule. It gave me financial independence and the ability to contribute back to my family in a way that personally made me happy to do. Maybe that’s not everyone’s mission as a SAHM but it was something I wanted.

So, my #1 goal in my network marketing career will always be to crush stigmas. (When you know better, you do better.) I have truly discovered a passion of mine is to lead and coach other women to build an income and an influence by showing them first hand the things I have learned along the way to be successful.

maya angelou quote

It’s Not for Everyone

Network Marketing cannot be for everyone. That’s impossible. However, it CAN be everything to so many. It can mean the difference in someone’s self-esteem, purpose, and self-worth.

Let’s lift up other women trying to be greater. This business saved me and I continue to strive to help other women find this outlet for themselves every day.
If you’re ready to make a change, I would be honored to chat with you about it.

the best work from home jobs while homeschooling

Work-from-home jobs seem to be in abundance these days. We have seen some pretty unprecedented things happen in 2020, including a global pandemic that has shut down schools, jobs, and economies. My family has felt the brunt and I am sure yours has too. This leads me to think about sharing a list of the best work-from-home jobs you can do while simultaneously homeschool your children because the real-life school isn’t happening this year.

The 10 Best Work-from-Home Jobs You Can Do While Simultaneously Homeschooling Your Children

10. None

9. Not a One

8. Nope

7. Not That One

6. Or This One Either

5. Worth a Shot, But No

4. Not The One In a Box

3. Not Even the One for the Fox

2. That’s a Hard No

1. Or You Could Mutate into a Superhero Who is Able to Clone Yourself so That You Can Do Two Really Hard Things at Once!

work-from-home jobs while homeschooling

I hate to break it to you, but homeschooling your children combined with working to make an income is really, really difficult. The truth is that I look and feel like this face on the left most of the days.  The last quarter of distance learning with our school system was not a pleasant experience for our family. You need some serious time-management and organizational skills.  The whole situation is just stressful. It’s hard and out-of-the-ordinary. It is not for the faint of heart. As a mom who loves her children and wants to keep them safe, I will do whatever I can to make that happen. I will sacrifice my time and my needs to help them continue to learn and grow. I pray that you are able to make the best decision for your family this coming school year as well.

In Closing

If you are looking for a way you can make extra money while managing your homeschooling and family, I would love to chat with you about what I do. Minimal investment, no inventory, and I can mentor you and teach you all the ways to be successful with a minimum time commitment. Laundry Hacks Every Busy Woman Needs to Know

Simple Laundry Tips

This post contains affiliate links. This means I may receive a small commission should you choose to purchase through one of my links. I only recommend products and services I personally use, like, know, and trust.

There’s a mound of laundry in the laundry room… again. Every laundry basket you own is overflowing with laundry. You’ve probably considered lighting it all on fire and starting from scratch. (Or maybe that’s just me.) Laundry hacks are so needed to help me stay on top of the laundry game.

Being a busy, working mom comes with its own unique set of challenges. I want to share my very best laundry hacks so that you can keep on top of this area of your housekeeping.

Whether you work from home like I do, or work outside of the home, your time is precious. No one wants to spend time doing housework when you could be spending time with loved ones or having fun.

I have been a stay-at-home mom, a work at home mom, and a work-outside-the-home mom, so I know a few of the differences.

The fact is that before I was working from home I just had more flexibility in my schedule.

It wasn’t that I wasn’t busy or that my time wasn’t valuable, it’s just that there was more give and take.

Now that I’m working from home, I have set times that I absolutely must work.

This means that having a laundry schedule is super important if I’m going to stay on top of it all.

I mean, laundry piles up faster than I can blink some days so I really do have to make sure to constantly be keeping up with it.

Here are my top 6 laundry hacks that I want to share with you. Every busy woman can utilize these options.

Laundry Basket Sorter

This laundry basket is brilliant! Imagine if when you went to wash a load of laundry it was already sorted! That would save so much time! That is why you need this laundry basket! Each section can hold a color of clothing (lights, darks, colors, jeans, etc!) Plus it is less than $40 dollars and heavy duty! Check it out here!

Make Drying Time Faster

Invest in a set of wool dryer balls. This not only helps to dry clothes more quickly, but it also works to reduce wrinkles and static cling. I also love the fact that wool dryer balls are far less toxic than dryer sheets!

Pro Tip – add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for extra freshness.

Start Folding

A folding board can make a world of differences in your folding game. Place clothes on the board, then flip them into neat rectangles ready to be placed in your dresser or closet.

laundry folding board

Shorten the Cycle

If you are washing clothes that haven’t been heavily worn, be sure you choose the light setting on your washing machine. Your clothes will get just as fresh and clean but in less time.

Don’t Lose the Socks

Before putting socks in the wash, group them together in a laundry bag. When you pull them out of the dryer, they will all be in one place.

mesh laundry bags

Room to Breathe

If you really want to reach for maximum efficiency, you should fill the dryer no more than two-thirds of the way. If you’re drying heavy fabric, halfway is even better.

Doing laundry doesn’t have to be your enemy. Take these laundry tips and use them to help make your own routine. You will be less stressed and it will free up more of your time. If I can figure it out and do it, then I know you can definitely can too!

How to Organize Your Home When You Are Unorganized

How to Organize Your Home for the Unorganized

How to Organize Your Home When You Are Unorganized

Being unorganized can make your life so much harder. Unorganized chaos in your home can cause an unending, overall sense of added stress because you’re lacking a certain amount of order in your life. It also causes unsightly clutter and makes it hard to find things.

The good news is that with some easy, home organization tips, you can have your home whipped into shape in no time. It may seem like an impossible task right now, but when broken down into smaller projects, organization is inevitable.

Try these simple organization tips:

Unorganized Home Tips

1. Get rid of your clutter. There is no use in organizing items that you’re not going to keep. Get rid of those items first will cut down on your organization time. It’s best to live by the rule that if you haven’t used an item in over a year and it doesn’t hold sentimental value, you should consider letting go of it.
(And might I add, that I am the world’s worst at doing this!)

* Make piles for trash, donations, and things to sell. You can use websites like eBay or Facebook garage sale pages t to sell unwanted items for extra cash. Also, a super-easy way to get rid of your nicer clothes and earn some extra cash is to consign at a local consignment store, or create a Poshmark account and list your clothes there. I use Poshmark all the time because they literally do everything for you. You only have to post pictures, a description, and then print and ship the provided label when someone makes a purchase!!! Sign up using my invite code to get $10 in your Poshmark account here.  Use code SLHUDSON16 to get your $10 added to your account.

2. Start small. It’s important to set small goals for yourself, room by room, throughout your house. When you focus on everything as a whole it can get so crazy and overwhelming that it might seem like a lost cause. Start small and keep it simple!

* Try starting in your bathroom, or better yet, just start by going through the cabinet underneath your bathroom sink. Throw out old items and organize the rest. Afterward, you can call it a day and then work on another small project the next time.

* As you move to new rooms, maintain the organization of the rooms you’ve already done. You don’t want to complete a few rooms only to find out that your bathroom cabinets are disorganized again.

3. Learn how to store things. Just because you have removed your things out of sight, it doesn’t mean that you have an organizational method. Plan a strategy to store similar things together in marked storage bins.

* Once you follow through on your storage strategy, then you’ll know where things are. You can also benefit from learning how to store things in sight. Make good use of shelves, baskets, or furniture with built-in storage space to keep things neat and where you’re likely to need them.

4. Create a cleaning schedule. Once you have your home in order, it’s all about the maintenance mode. You’ll need to find a way to keep things in order. Make a schedule to keep track of what chores are done and when. You can even schedule a time to deal with clutter to get everything back into its proper place.

* Dividing up the cleaning tasks throughout the week will make it easier to maintain the order you worked so hard to achieve. This limits “chore time” into short increments of time. Instead of spending an entire Saturday cleaning, clean a room each day, and then you can have fun on the weekend while your home is still neat and tidy.

* Establish the habit of picking up as you go. If you have children, this is a great way to get them involved with the process also. When you take something out of its place to use it, put it back when you’re done.

If you really want to change your life, you can do it. Even if you have been unorganized forever, use these tips to help you turn things around and enjoy that lovely home that you have worked so hard to create.

Do you have any organizational tips that you use in your home? If so, I would love to know in the comments below.

Happy Organizing,

Sandra

For the Woman Who Struggles with Mom Guilt

Mom Guilt

Mom Guilt is Real

Has anyone here ever struggled with mom guilt???  Being a mom is really, really HARD!!
While being a mom is the most rewarding blessing I have ever received in my life, that does not make this season of life any less difficult.
I have been a parent for 10 years now, and while I feel that I have grown and learned so much, there are still things I am trying to navigate and figure out every single day. Children constantly test your patience and boundaries.
While being a mom is a humbling experience that forces you to grow in ways I never thought possible. I spend a lot of my days refereeing Parker and Stella, disciplining, answering the never-ending questions, and being the caregiver and nurturer that they need. You really never know what your day will bring.
Did I mention that being a mom is hard…….

Do you know what makes it ten times harder?

MOM GUILT

Mom Guilt Confessions

If I am being honest, that feeling of mom guilt has been a major struggle of mine lately. I feel like I am short-tempered and I am way too hard on my kids sometimes. I struggle with feeling guilty if I take time for myself when I should be reading them a story or cleaning the house. Oh, do I feel the mom guilt when I forget a school event, or when I was supposed to bring something to the class party and forgot.  (Please tell me I am not the only one who does this.)
Or what about when you are giving it your 100% effort and you still get those judgmental eye rolls from strangers in the grocery store because they don’t like the way you are parenting.
Being a mom is hard and judgment is everywhere.

Mom Guilt and Feeling Less Than

I have been thinking about the mom guilt a lot lately and I spend the majority of my day feeling guilty for something I did or did not do. In other words, I spend the majority of my day feeling – LESS THAN. Ouch!!
That sounds harsh as I type those words, but even more so when you say them out loud.
Sometimes just purely being present, loving your child, being imperfectly you and offering your hand in their journey in life is?
Could it be that your affection is enough and your presence as they sit on your lap while you watch tv or work on your laptop is enough? Maybe the way you smell, the sound of your voice and your loving touch are enough?
What if the gift of YOU as their mom with all your imperfection is ENOUGH?
If you are struggling with the mom guilt, know that you are not alone. You are not less than and your children were hand-picked by our Creator to have YOU mother them as no one else could do. I am going to do my best to stop these negative thoughts when they happen and focus on something positive in the situation. Life is too short to live it feeling less than.
Give yourself some grace, mama. You are doing an amazing job!
While I can’t promise you that we will never face Mom Guilt again, I can share with you 10 affirmations I have been trying to say to myself when these feelings come up. I hope they help you too.

You are enough

Affirmations to Fight Mom Guilt

  1. Your presence matters.
  2. My love is enough.
  3. My best differs each day.
  4. Perfection is not needed, just persistence to love and teach those little ones.
  5. My “doing” is not required to be a good mom.
  6. If I’m not quitting, I’m succeeding.
  7. Mistakes are for learning and growing.
  8. Me-time makes their-time even better.
  9. I’m not guilty.
  10. Just breathe.

Sandra

Self-Care Tips for Moms

self-care tips

Moms these days seem to be constantly urged to take time for themselves and practice self-care because “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” Raise your hand if you have heard this expression.

While this sounds good in theory, the reality is that self-care sounds like one more thing to schedule into our never-ending to-do list. When you have 45 loads of laundry, little Timmy has baseball practice, your spouse is traveling for work, and your daughter has a school project due tomorrow, guess who always comes in last.

You are the Best Mom for Your Kids

Even on the days when you are running late, wearing spit-up on your shirt, or maybe you lost your temper and yelled at the kids, YOU are the best mom for your kids. You are not a cruise director who has to arrange Pinterest-worthy activities on a daily basis.

You do not need a cleaner house, to lose weight, or to buy more stuff. Your children love you because you give them love and affection. You are the one they want when they are sick or have a boo-boo because they feel comforted with you. Unconditional love and affection from you are what your children NEED, not all of the other things.

home is mom

Self-Care Helps

Little acts of self-care for moms sure can help you take care of those kids that you love so much. The reality is that it is impossible to show up for your kids and to respond to their needs with love if you are completely depleted. I am going to let you in on a parenting secret that most people don’t talk about. The best possible gift that you can give your kids is a happy, healthy, emotionally stable mother.

Self-Care Truths

What REAL self-care means is that you need to give yourself a break from the things that are NOT priorities to make time for what really matters. It means letting go of the things that are causing you more pain than they’re worth so that you can leave space for the joy.

Self-care is not always a solitary activity like going to the gym, spa, or nail salon. Although if you are looking for new options to try, here is a great list.

What if we looked at true self-care as something we did to make our normal, everyday routines more enjoyable?

If your days are so challenging that you need to schedule time away from them, then maybe you need to take a look at how you have been filling your days.

What if, instead, we structured our days and our lives to allow time for the activities that fill us up? We need activities and hobbies that speak to our soul and energize us. Yes, that might include curling up with a good book on the couch, or visiting the nail salon, or having dinner with your girlfriends.

Self-care can also be turning down a party invitation and to go for a hike with your family. It might mean more family dinners, with no screens in the way. It might mean saying no to a million extracurriculars and committees so that you create some breathing room for yourself and your family. You have to work to find the BALANCE.

Self-care can mean cutting things out of your life — even good things if they add stress.

But what if self-care could also be something bigger?

What if self-care means creating a life that you love, right now?

Fill Your Cup and Don’t Apologize for It

Self-care for moms is not selfish. Taking time for yourself, your family, and your mental health is not selfish. These are the acts of a courageous mother who knows that she cannot respond lovingly and peacefully if she is burnt out. It takes courage to ask for help, and to say “I need this time for myself.” I hope you know by now that self-care is so much more than getting a pedicure.

It takes courage to stand up and say that “I want to ENJOY my motherhood, my children, my marriage and my job — and that might look untraditional.”

What I am saying is that it takes courage to create a life that you truly love. It takes bravery to say that the traditional choices aren’t working for you and your family. Life is too short to live with regret. Don’t just do it for you. Do it for your kids. Do it for your family.

never too old

I would love to know your thoughts on this topic in the comments below. Thank you so much for reading.

How to Get Unstuck When You are Burnt Out

If you find yourself stuck or maybe even burn out, perhaps it’s time to explore the reasons why. With some simple self-exploration, you can pinpoint the areas of your life that require change. It may require you to leave your comfort zone, but in the end, you’ll likely find that it was all worth it! Let’s talk about how you to get unstuck when you are burnt out.

It’s also important for you to build an action plan. If you stay organized and follow a simple plan of action step by step, there will be nothing that can stop you from achieving your goals.

Here are some ideas that can get you on your way to getting unstuck:

Set Up Accountability. When you hold yourself accountable and keep a close eye on your goals, you’ll be better able to identify when you’re stuck in a rut. The first step is to really figure out why you’re feeling stuck in the first place. I think it’s important to note that even if you are a stay-at-home mom, it is super easy to fall into a rut. (Check out this article about overcoming the mom burnout.)

Set A Time Goal. You’re stuck and you’d like to be unstuck, but chances are you’ve been putting off working toward your goal. You’ve already decided to make yourself accountable and now it’s time to give yourself a time limit – so do it! This can even be a small, attainable goal also to get you moving in the right direction.

Be Not Afraid. Being afraid of change is one of the biggest reasons why you get stuck in the first place. Perhaps you’re feeling trapped in your job and, in order to get the job you’d like, you have to go back to college. You need to get over your fear and see what you need to do to apply. You’ll be happy you did when you land your dream job someday.

Look For Role Models. Find someone who has been through your situation or something similar and see how he or she was able to overcome obstacles. If possible, ask this person questions.

Change Your Thinking. It’s true: your actions first start as thoughts. When you think positive and brave thoughts, you’ll be motivated into action!

Take Time. Remember to take some time for yourself to collect your thoughts. You may discover some insight into how to solve your challenges. Make sure you’re completely alone with your thoughts without any distractions.

Taking Action

It’s easy to remain in your “stuck” situation because it’s familiar and you know what’s going to happen. You might even feel safe. However, eventually, the dissatisfaction you feel will take over and you’ll realize that the only way to get “unstuck” is to take immediate action to change.

Make the Change

Once you choose your timetable, you’ll want to break down your changes into small steps. Track your progress and tweak your system to make sure your changes are making a difference. For example, if you’re feeling stuck in a relationship, you’ll first evaluate where you think the concern lies. Perhaps you aren’t communicating effectively. If so, you can set a timetable of three months to overcome this challenge. You can then break down the problem into smaller steps by reading a book on communication, talking about it with your partner, or attempting counseling sessions. As you go through these actions, you’re constantly keeping a close eye on how it affects your relationship.
